GETTING To cooktown

Cooktown is accessible by road and air all year round. We are able to book your transport whether it is bus, flights or car hire.

Access by air

Take the fantastic flight up the coast with views over rainforest and reef. Twice daily flights operate between Cairns and Cooktown. Flying time is 40minutes. Private charters are available.

Access by the coast

Travel from Port Douglas, through Daintree, Cape Tribulation. Cross the Bloomfield river. 4WD only, 235km, about 5 hours. Note: This road may be closed at various times during the wet season.

Access by the centre

An easier scenic drive.. 320kms, about 4 hours. This road is suitable for non 4WD vehicles and caravans. The road is entirely sealed except for 34 kms of well formed dirt road. The road is on target to be completely sealed by 2005.

Flights

Twice daily flights operate between Cairns and Cooktown. Flying time is 40minutes. Private charters are available.

Bus

A daily bus service operates between Cooktown and Cairns on either the coastal or inland road.

Car Hire

We can arrange your car hire and options include a Toyota Landcruiser, Suzuki Jiminy, RAV4 and a 8 seater Tarago. Hire prices start from $100 per day.
